Sierra's Birthday

A couple of weeks ago, we packed up and headed to an ice skating rink to celebrate Sierra's birthday.  She had been looking forward to ice skating for her birthday since last December, when a friend had a birthday party at the rink.

She didn't really settle on what she wanted for her cake until the day before.  We ended up doing a Percy Jackson theme, half of the cake Roman camp and half of the cake for the Greek camp.  It was a little harder than I expected to frost each half with a different color and then the frosting cracked when I picked up the cake to transport it.  She was happy though.
Little sisters were thrilled to discover a Frozen backdrop to take pictures with
Ten candles proved to be too many blow out all at once, someone even asked if they were trick candles because she had so much trouble this year!
She insisted on cutting the cake herself, which resulted in some rather generous portion sizes.
Secora came for the cake.  She kept saying she was excited about the party, but insisting she wasn't going to skate.  She finally told us she was excited because there would be cake.  Now she says she can't wait for her birthday so that she can get the first piece of cake.
She was thrilled with her presents.  That's our nephew sitting next to her.  They have the same birthday, he's two years older.  He seemed a bit chagrined to have to sit through all of the girly presents being opened, but you do what you gotta do for a day of ice skating.

She also nabbed some new tri gear.  An insulated water bottle, bottle cage for her bike and race belt.
She also got all of the Rick Riordan books she's been wanting.

And everyone needs a pair of fuzzy minion pajama pants before winter gets here, right?
All of the kids spent most of the time skating
Sedona had a hard time getting the hang of it, she used a cone to help her stay up most of the time.
Josh and I got out on the ice to help out.  Josh helped Sedona most of the time and I tried to catch Sierra's friends as often as possible when they were about to fall.  It's been about 20 years since I was on ice skates, but it turns out it's like riding a bike.
She had a great day.  Skating, cake, friends, what more could a girl want?
