6 months old

Secora is 6 months old today!
Half a year has flown by.
The photoshoots are getting a little more difficult.

She is 15#11oz (2.5oz gain/week...babies should gain 3-5oz/week from 3-6 months and then 1-3oz/week from 6-12 months, so she's hit her slow down phase). She has gotten much more active. She can easily roll back to front and front to back, so she enjoys time on her play mat now that she can move to reach different toys. When she's on her tummy, she is trying to figure out how to move. She'll try to pull her knees up under her, but hasn't figured out the whole process and usually ends up just pushing herself backwards.

She babbles sometimes now. No definite sounds yet, but she uses different tones of voice and does a little "answer and call" that is the beginning of learning conversation. She thinks it's funny to shake her head "no" when she's laying down. She is very interested in what her sisters are doing and watches them much more closely.

She spends a lot of her day looking at and chewing on her toes. She naps about 2 or 3 times a day, depending on how quiet her sisters are. She still wakes up several times a night to nurse, which is fine by me. Occasionally she wakes up every hour at night, which is NOT fine by me.

She has all the signs of being ready for solids now, so we decided to give it a try. She was not impressed. She has some of the same allergy related issues Sedona had as a baby (not as severe, but they're there, you can see the rash on her neck in the pictures up top, and there is some other stuff going on too), so I wouldn't be surprised if she just knows she needs to wait longer. She wouldn't eat sweet potatoes, so I'm going to try pears for a few days. If she won't go for that, we'll just put away the solids and try again in a couple weeks.

3rd taste of solid food

In no time at all, she's going to be crawling around trying to chase her big sisters!!
